I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Barry Ruggiero of New Jersey Paranormal Investigations, to discuss his charity.  Paranormal Cares is a 501-c charity that hosts events at haunted locations and raises money for a variety of charities.

I have personal experience with Barry and his team coming to the New Egypt Historical Society Museum to investigate and run events for his charities, and it’s always a pleasure to see fresh faces with an enthusiasm to investigate and give back.

Barry, like many of us, has been in the community for many years.  His altruistic resume goes back over a decade helping charities that include, Wounded Warriors PA, Because Life Happens, Cancer Care, and many more.

Paranormal Cares has grown to a “Coalition of a lot of investigators and teams hsting 12-13 events a year”  There is a strict vetting process that consists of multiple variables in order to get involved.  “We want everything to be positive, No Ego.  Barry states.

“It’s about giving back.  I love ghost hunting, but I want to give back to the community.  I want everyone to stop bickering and let’s get together and do some good!”  Barry exclaimed.

“I know that there are bad actors out there, who claim to be charitable, but don’t really give back.  So when I get asked about where the money is going, I don’t take it personal.  I get it.  I completely understand if there are others out there that feel deceived.  I think for me, personally, I like to make sure that people know where the money is going.  and if they dont want to donate through me, I always make sure there is a way for people to visit the website of the chairty directly to donate.  Transparency is very important to me.  We are all good Human Beings, I have met many who love to help”

Paranormal cares is currently working on a website, but if you want to follow their events visit their FaceBook page

Aside from the paranormal, Barry is a loving and attentive father, and if I had known nothing else, that would be enough for me.

Barry Ruggiero has been investigating the paranormal for over twelve years. His area of expertise centers around hauntings and spirits with the application of basic physics. Scientific instruments which measure fluctuations in the environment, enables NJPI to document these occurrences. Infrared surveillance systems are utilized along with high end audio equipment to capture any abnormalities for documentation purposes.

Barry has been featured on the Woodbridge, NJ television network hosted by Mayor John McCormick to discuss the history and paranormal events of the township. He was also interviewed by News 12 NJ about the paranormal field highlighting historic landmarks known for activity. The Star Ledger newspaper did a feature article on his investigation on the Hannah Caldwell House where it is believed Mrs. Caldwell’s spirit still resides at the site of her murder.
